2D replay of a match

Generate the 2D replay of a match or analyse a demo, then rewatch it round by round: radar, players, grenades, timeline, Focus mode, search and shortcuts.

On this page

The 2D replay plays a match back from above using its demo: positions, kills, grenades and the bomb, plus HP, money, equipment, blinds and damage when the demo contains them. Nothing is made up: data missing from the demo stays missing.

Get a replay

From your history

  1. Open a match imported from Valve

Only Premier, Competitive and Wingman matches imported with your Steam codes have a demo. FACEIT matches don’t.

  2. Click “Generate replay”

For the page owner with an approved account: 5 requests a day and 4 at a time at most.

  3. Wait a few minutes

A progress bar shows the step (download, analysis, upload) and the estimated time left. The page updates by itself.

  4. Open the replay

The Demo available card offers Open full screen: every tool lives in that view.

Analyse a demo (Analyse menu)

  • The Import a demo page (Analyse menu, approved account) accepts a .dem or .dem.bz2 file up to 400 MB, or a Valve demo link.
  • Tick the consent box: the demo contains other players’ data.
  • Nothing is kept: the demo is deleted after the analysis and the replay only exists in your tab. It disappears when you leave the page.
  • Two analyses at a time and five a day at most.

Reading the radar

  • Each player is a dot in their side’s colour (CT blue, T orange), with their name (press N to hide names).
  • Positions are sampled 4 times a second then interpolated: a very fast move can look smoothed.
  • Smokes, molotovs, flashes and HEs show at their detonation point, with their path while in flight. A planted bomb is shown at the top right.
  • Scroll wheel or buttons to zoom, drag to pan, double click to reset. On Nuke and Vertigo, pick the floor shown.
  • Without a radar image for the map, the replay switches to “no radar” mode: a grid framed on the whole match.
  • The round bar at the top shows each round’s winner (blue or orange line). [ and ] change round.
  • At the bottom: play, −10 s / +10 s, speed from 0.25× to 8×, loop and progress bar. The replay goes on 5 s after the end of the round, shown as “Round over”.
  • Copy link shares the current round, the current second and the followed players: the link reopens the replay at the same moment, on the same players. The page address follows the replay: reloading or going back brings you to the same spot.
  • , and . step frame by frame (and pause).

Players and events

  • The left board follows each player: HP, armour, money, weapons, remaining grenades and kills/assists in the round. A dead player keeps their row.
  • Click a player (list or map): they are selected and the Detail panel shows their equipment, duels, grenades and damage. Ctrl+click or Shift+click adds more, double click turns on the follow camera.
  • With nothing selected, Detail sums up the round: balance of forces, buys, latest events.

Grenades

  • Click a grenade (map or timeline) for its card: start, landing, flight, effect duration (measured in the demo or game value, as stated), players blinded or hit and the kills that followed.
  • When the demo has the thrower’s position and angle, the card gives the setpos and setang commands, nearby throws from the Stuff catalog and a link to the Nade Solver for smokes.
  • G opens the Grenade cards in a movable window: throws grouped by landing area, team and side filters, impact heatmap.

The timeline

Under the map, two lanes: kills (a head for a headshot) and the bomb at the top, grenades at the bottom. Buttons filter each type and the Damage band; the side filter also dims the other side on the map. Clicking a mark jumps to it; E and Shift+E go to the next or previous event.

Layouts and Focus mode

LayoutKeyWhat it shows
Analysis1Players on the left, map in the middle, Detail and Layers on the right.
Compact2Condensed player rows.
Focus3The map alone, as large as possible.

The header arrows fold each panel; the choice is remembered on the device. As soon as the Detail panel is folded (as in Focus), the round analysis opens in a floating window:

  • Move it by dragging its header (handle left of the title). Buttons and links inside it still work as usual.
  • The chevron button minimises it to its header (so does a double click on the header), the cross closes it, the circular arrow resets it to its starting place. The bottom-right corner resizes it.
  • With the keyboard: tab to the header, then arrow keys to move it (Shift to go faster) and Home to reset it. The resize corner also answers the arrow keys.
  • Its position, size and minimised state are kept on this device, including after a round change or reopening the replay. It always stays on screen, even after a resolution or zoom change.
  • Once closed, it comes back with the Round analysis button in the header or the A key.

Search for an event

Ctrl+K (or ⌘+K on Mac) or the Search… button opens the search. Left of the field, pick the scope: This round (default) or All for the whole demo, results grouped by round. Results follow the round shown.

  • Opening a result goes to the right round, slightly before the event, and marks it with a blue circle on the map. The layout doesn’t change.
  • Nothing in this round? The message offers to search All: the scope never changes on its own.

Limits

  • A replay generated before an update may lack data (places, throw points, real smoke end): Regenerate replay adds them as long as the demo exists.
  • A side’s simulated radar ignores walls: it is an approximation, shown as such.
  • Bots and spectators are not shown.
