Analysing a round in the replay

The 2D replay doesn’t just play the match back: it measures what happens. Each tool separates what is read from the demo from what is computed with a stated rule.

The round analysis

  • Current situation: balance of forces at the moment shown (even, advantage, clutch, retake with the number of kits), with a playing tip.
  • Buys: what each side bought, compared with a simple rule (full buy from $4,400 per player; eco if the loss bonus allows a full buy next round; force otherwise, or at the end of a half and on the opponent’s match point). No advice on pistol rounds.
  • Habits: a side that is often at the same place 25 s into the round (at least 3 rounds and half of its rounds). Show the area displays it on the map.
  • It updates during playback. In the Analysis layout it sits at the top of Detail; in Focus, in a floating window. Press A to show or hide it.

Observations

The Observations panel (I) lists, for the round or the match, facts (read from the demo), measures (computed with a fixed rule) and hypotheses (tactical reading to check). Rules: trade = killer killed within 5 s; isolated = no living teammate within 1,200 u; useful flash = at least one enemy blinded 1 s; recurring death = 3 deaths within 350 u. Each line leads to the round and second concerned.

Stats

  • Stats panel (S): per round, over the match or per side (CT, T).
  • Kills on enemies (team kills apart), damage capped at the victim’s remaining HP, trades (kill within 5 s), KAST, clutches (1v1 to 1v5), multi-kills, opening kills and deaths, grenades thrown, blinds dealt.
  • The Rating is a public approximation of HLTV Rating 2.0, only computed when the demo contains damage. It is neither HLTV’s nor Leetify’s rating.

Key moments and economy

  • Key moments (M): opening kill of the round, 3 kills or more, clutches won, plant and defuse, rounds won on an eco or force buy against a better buy.
  • Economy: each side’s buy type per round (eco under $1,000 per player, force under $3,000, half under $4,400, full above), pistol rounds and loss bonus following CS2 rules.

Layers, heatmaps and trails

  • The Layers tab adds: player info (HP ring, bomb), field of view, kill positions (K), trails (T), the other floor in transparency. H hides everything at once.
  • Heatmaps (Shift+H) by type (positions, deaths, kills, damage taken, throws, impacts), by round phase, over the round or the whole match. The sample count and rounds covered are shown.
  • Heatmaps, trails and grenade cards are limited to the selected players, if any.

Simulated radar

V shows what one side could see: an enemy only appears inside a living teammate’s field of view or very close, with no smoke in the way. Walls are not taken into account. When the demo contains the game’s real radar, it is used and labelled “real radar”.

Annotations, clips and sharing

  • D turns on drawing: pen, line, arrow, circle, area, text, marker and eraser; Z / Y undo or redo.
  • Freeze the situation keeps the round, moment and drawings in the tab. Share the annotation puts everything in the link: nothing is sent to the website.
  • Record a clip makes a WebM video of the loop (or 10 s); the capture saves an image of the map.

Searching all your demos

The Search my demos page (Analyse menu, approved account) finds a moment across all your analysed demos: your CT rounds on a map, your opening duels lost with the AWP, your flashes on at least two enemies, your won retakes on a site, smokes thrown from an area. Pick an example or set the filters: the ones the site understood are shown above the results and each one can be removed in a click. Open starts the replay at the right round, just before the action. The search covers your demos or those of public pages; an unlisted or private page never shows up.

The other analysis tools

  • Comparison (/demos/comparer): two rounds side by side or overlaid, synced on the start, the first contact, the plant or a chosen event, with a manual offset. Gaps are measurements, not mistakes.
  • Round analysis: measured CT rotations between sites, round timings and lines of sight. Without the map walls, a line of sight is only potential.
  • Timings: your timings against demos of public pages, with the distribution, the sample and the period. No professional demos yet.
  • Synergy: what two to five players do together (rounds, trades, assists), with the sample size and without claiming a cause.
  • Sequences: several moments in a row, shared by link or exported as a video of the 2D radar.
  • Sentence search: type "my CT rounds on Inferno"; the filters understood are shown and can be fixed.
  • In the replay, right click on the map opens the actions of the player, the grenade or the moment (Shift+F10 on the keyboard), and Alt+← / Alt+→ goes back to the moments you looked at. Elsewhere, Ctrl+K opens the site search, with your recent demos, favourites and sequences when the field is empty.
  • Preferences: export and import your display settings, clear the cache and history kept in this browser.

Example: reviewing a failed execute

  1. Find the smoke

Ctrl+K, keep This round and type smoke (or fumigène), then Enter on the right row.

  2. Check the timing

The replay stops slightly before the throw. Open the grenade card for its duration and the players it hit.

  3. Isolate the moment

L at the start then at the end to create a loop, Shift+H for the positions heatmap.

  4. Annotate and share

D to draw the planned setup, then Share the annotation to send the link to your team.
